Updates

Hello!

It's time to announce some cool new features and changes to WindLive. This month marks by far one of our biggest, most major set of updates yet. An all-new, redesigned, dynamic anemometer face. A redesigned layout, an updated score system, and new ways for businesses to connect with WindLive.

⚡️ All-new, redesigned anemometer display

The speed and direction display have been completely re-worked from the ground up. The gusts and speed average are now located at the very centre of the display. We've implemented a new wind-rose-like direction indicator, which checks for the average degree, based on 5-minute intervals.

For those who miss having the big blue arrow from the old design — we've got you covered. Here's a cool trick: When you hover over the timeline (or tap on mobile), the rose turns into an analog-style compass. It also replaces the speed readings with the old arrow indicator, which has also been upgraded to show you wind direction with more precision.

🎛 Re-worked layout

We've changed the look of all elements under the timeline. Sunrises/Sunset have been moved next to temperature near the timeline label. Score & Tides have been updated to show more detail, with tide states (rising/falling) now being displayed. Everything else has been adjusted/changed for a cleaner & more visible look, while keeping things as simple & compact as possible.

📍 Places Near You

We've added a brand new way to feature local businesses on our platform. Places Near You is a new section below the wind map, showcasing services in the area. Local businesses now have a way to showcase their service on WindLive. Places Near You is visible both on desktop & mobile. Own a local shop, guest house or restaurant? Learn how to add yours.

📶 Roaming Mode

Roaming mode is a new system, triggered automatically in the event of connection issues while retrieving data from local stations. Roaming now also triggers in the event of hardware maintenance. When in roaming mode, WindLive automatically switches to readings from third-party providers, to compensate for the lack of live data (such as wind speed, gusts and direction). You can learn more about it here.

📣 We're now accepting advertising & sponsorships!

That's right! We're finally open to sponsorship & advertising requests. Want to advertise on WindLive and help support our service? send us a mail at info@windlive.mu!
